SPEEDWELL TITANIUM FRAME 23" CENTRE-TOP. This was the frame of the reserve bike for LUIS OCANA when he won TdF 1973. I have a letter from the seller-to-me indicating its origins and where and how he obtained it. Knowing his proximity to the old Speedwell factory, I have no reason to doubt him.  I have no other proof so it has to be taken at face value.
The forks are chrome steel as the original ti forks had a reputation for "flex/trembling". The frame has been used during the last 40 years.

P&A KENISTONS of ROMFORD 24" CENTRE-TOP, NERVEX stamped under BB shell so lugs probably are. Nice wrapover seatstays as pic. I bought this in haste off that auction site when the bike was located only 7 mls from me. I had already completed the bike shown below this one and jumped at the chance to suddenly acquire another, coincidentally with much same spec. However I have done nothing to it, I never will, I dont need another bike.  I am sure we have all been there even when fiscal and domestic policies were perfectly aligned.  No doubt the parts would make more if I broke it but I dont like doing that, I guess the saddle/post combo are worth 40% of the price?  There is the suspicion of a minor head shunt, I was wondering why fit a relatively modern chrome fork

P&A KENISTONS of ROMFORD model GIRO, EARLY 1960s. I saw a pic and road test of one of these in the 'Comic' (CYCLING) dated July 18th 1964 written by Roger St.Pierre. Having then just left school and owning a mere sports bike, the write-up of this one left a lasting impression. It lasted until around 2009 when I acquired a Giro frame, had it re-finished at Bob Jackson in Leeds and built it up with period components. I have not attempted to use identical parts to the road test bike, I had a set of Mafac Racers NOS as opposed to Universal c/pulls on the test bike. The other parts may well be what one might have really wanted but probably could not afford most of fifty years ago. Which is of course the main motive behind the current retro movement

NOT FOR SALE

CAMPAGNOLO RECORD HEADSET NOS, the early Strada version that later became NR Pista with unlettered faces
CAMPAGNOLO RECORD REAR MECH AND FRONT MECH BOTH NOS with outer casing stop and the die-cast arms, not alloy, that suspend the chain cage
CAMPAGNOLO HANDLEBAR CONTROL LEVERS/BAR END SHIFTERS & RED CAMPA RUBBERS
CAMPAGNOLO RECORD CHAINSET 151bcd, 170mm cranks 44/51 rings secured by unusual chrome plated axle bolts
CAMPAGNOLO TWIN BOLT SEATPOST #1045  AND BROOKS B17 SADDLE. These two items can only be assembled with each other, the saddle having parallel rails for maximum fore and aft adjustment and requires the Campa post with narrow rail clamps. The saddle appears to have been 'butchered' as the vogue with the excess leather trimmed off flush with the curved frame at back and around the nose. The extra large copper rivets have been peined over in a rather amateur fashion underneath
AMBROSIO GRAN PRIX HANDLEBAR STEM, GB VENTOUX BARS
MAFAC RACER BRAKES NOS
AIRLITE LARGE FLANGE QUICK RELEASE RED ANODISED HUBS WITH BH Co SKEWERS 32/40, WEINMANN 27" ALLOY RIMS, DB STAINLESS SPOKES, MICHELIN BIB SPORT 27x1 TYRES
REGINA 5sp FREEWHEEL 14-26, RENOLD CHAIN BOTH NOS
CHATER-LEA PEDALS, GB STAINLESS TOECLIPS, GREY LEATHER STRAPS NOS
SILCA FLAT TOP PUMP with CAMPA ADAPTOR and PUMP CUP ALL NOS
TA CHROMED STEEL BOTTLE CAGE with ORIGINAL NEVER USED MILK RACE BOTTLE 1962 BOTH NOS. I deliberated for hours over whether to have brazed on bottle cage bosses fitted as clips could  scratch the paint but decided against as old photos show they did not appear until a little later
TA STEM MOUNTED CABLE GUIDE NOS, never a common or popular accessory which is why I fitted it
PELISSIER TYRE SAVERS NOS

GRAMAGLIA PISTA~NUOVO RECORD CHAINSET, PEDALS LARGE FLANGE HUBS, SEATPOST, HEADSET. CINELLI STEEL BARS/STEM. BALILLA TOECLIPS.  Shown as found.  The seller said that Gramaglia had a workshop in Baggio, Milan and had built frames for TONI MASPES, BEPPE OGNE SANTE and GAIARDONI. This is a lovely bike of its type. The chrome is not perfect-its used and presumably has seen some fierce competition. I am not desperate to sell-unless I receive the proverbial offer I cannot refuse

I have been given the following information on Gramaglia by one of my Milanese friends.  Shop address was v.Forze Armate 401, Zona Baggio, Milano and he also owned, apparently, Cicli Auro.  His 'stock' colour as they seem to have, was green-as Gios blue, Bianchi celeste etc. Gramaglia started around 1940 and ceased trading on 31st December 1975, he died during 2002. No chance of finding any decals!

I SPOTTED THIS BIKE OUTSIDE A SHOP AND JUST GOES TO SHOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOW WE WOULD VALUE A CLASSIC ROAD BIKE AND THIS OWNER WHO USED IT BASICALLY TO SAVE WALKING AROUND HIS TOWN.  YOU CAN SEE FROM THESE THREE PICS THAT IT WAS ORIGINALLY A DECENT BIKE WITH THE PANTOGRAPHING, INTERNAL CABLES, SLOTTED EVEREST CHAIN AND THE NR CALIPERS WITH FLAT QR LEVERS.  THE 'BARS HAD BEEN CHANGED TO FLAT/CITY AND THIS CHAINGUARD  FITTED.  THE BACK OF THE CRANK HAD BEEN MACHINED OFF TO PROVIDE EXTRA CLEARANCE AND A TAG BRAZED TO THE SEATSTAY INSTEAD OF A CLIP.  THE CHAINGUARD HAD BEEN CAREFULLY WORKED TO CLEAR THE FRONT MECH.

THE WILIER WITH SUPER RECORD GROUP BELOW WAS BEING USED IN MUCH THE SAME WAY BUT THE OWNER HADN'T GOT ROUND TO FITTING A CHAINGUARD--YET

I ALSO SAW A SHABBY COLNAGO WITH THE REMAINS OF 50th ANNIVERSARY GROUP ON IT, I THINK I WAS SO SHOCKED BY ITS' APPEARANCE I WASN'T QUICK ENOUGH WITH THE CAMERA

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Colnago Mexico with the indented tubes, and remains of Super Record group-even the freewheel is Campa.  The head of the right crank has been slightly modified by tapering/rounding off. It happened to arrive in a workshop for two new tubs whilst I was there and I almost surreptitiously took the pics hence they aren't that sharp, but if they were better, you would only weep more
Colnago Chainset
Colnago 6 arm chainset
An immaculate example of this particularly scarce component.  It is likely this has been fitted to a show bike as there are faint signs of pedals having been screwed in-but no chain wear.  The cranks are 170mm with 36/53 rings.  The only other known model on show at: www.classicrendezvous.com   (Italy/Colnago) has the Ambrosio impression at the head of the crank.  This one does not and has no indication of manufacturer.  It is unlikely to have been made by anyone other than Ambrosio.
Record pedals
Record pedals-all black finish
A pair of Record Superleggeri pedals which have been completely anodised black including the dustcaps.  The spindles are normal chromed steel.  Not in any factory catalogues that I have seen yet.
Sport F.mech
Sport F.mech
Campagnolo Sport Front Mech #1011
Introduced late 1953 and first appearing in catalogo 12.  This example is totally mint unused condition and was found on a workshop shelf.  Regrettably no box was available but obtaining the mech itself was a bonus!
De Rosa Chainset
DE ROSA SUPER RECORD CHAINSET
One of the last production unfluted Super Record chainsets engraved DE ROSA above the chainring cut-outs.  Cranks are 170mm. rings 42/52.
I had a set panto Bianchi above the top bolt and another panto COLNAGO above each bolt.
